We opened in May of 2010. The name is a reference to the clay vessels (Amphorae) used to store and transport wine in ancient Greece and Rome. There is a resurgence of anfora aging among some winemakers, and the list features great examples of these wines.

General Manager & Beverage Director
An industry veteran, Cody has spent the past 13 years working in nearly every facet of hospitality. Though an avid ’hospitalian’ on all fronts, he has found himself most drawn to the world of natural wine and terroir-driven spirits. Most recently, he was the Beverage Director at the multi-concept space Union Fare, before which he was Managing Partner and Beverage Director at Casa Neta Mezcaleria, and is a partner in Harding’s Restaurant. Cody has been featured in TimeOut New York, Liquor.com, Gothamist, and The Daily Meal, among numerous other publications. When not poring over the beverage lists at Anfora and expounding on the virtues of natural wine, Cody can be found cooking at home and planning yet another trip back to France (or the closest tiki bar).
Mr. Cardona began his career in the Finance sector but an undeniable connection to the hospitality industry and a passion for food and wine led Mr. Cardona back to the food & beverage industry. Mr. Cardona spent several years at Italian Wine Merchants where he spearheaded several Marketing and Business Development initiatives. He opened his first restaurant, dell’anima, in October 2007 and, following its immediate success, he and his partners opened their second restaurant, L’Artusi, in December 2008. Mr. Cardona formed Epicurean Capital (“EpCap”) and Epicurean Management Company (“EMCo.”) in Q1 2009 before proceeding to open Anfora in May 2010. Mr. Cardona holds a B.S. in Business Management from Cornell University, with a concentration in Food Marketing. Mr. Cardona sits on the board of Wellness in the Schools and Heritage Radio Network, and on the advisory boards of Greenwich House, Fourth Arts Block and the Food and Finance High School.
